Cut in the 1840's, Allatoona Pass is 175 feet deep at its deepest point. It was the deepest cut on the W&A line between Atlanta and Chattanooga.

I want to say I once read that it was the deepest hand cut ever made, but I can't find that now, so I could be wrong.
