Gennett Poplar
show on map

The 2nd largest tree in Georgia, with an 18 foot girth. Left behind by turn-of-the century logging operations. The Gennett family donated the land the tree sits on to the USFS, so the tree was named after them. It really is impressively big for this area. Photos don't do it justice. Even looking at it from the trail doesn't give you a good feel for it's enormity.
